Thanks to the Overland Park Rotary Foundation, you have a special opportunity to help out our neighbors in need during this COVID-19 crisis! The Foundation is challenging Club members to match their $5,000 donation to the "Project 1020 Cold Weather Shelter" with contributions in any amount. Club members are encouraged to make a donation to the Foundation by April 13, and designate it for "Project 1020". We will send the collected funds to Project 1020 from the Club. Please make your donation online at https://portal.clubrunner.ca/ Project 1020 is an organization that has been operating a cold weather shelter in Lenexa with 30 beds for people who are homeless. The shelter is full every night. The shelter was scheduled to cease operations on April 1, but the Lenexa City Council last week authorized the shelter to continue operating through the end of the COVID-19 emergency order. Support from the OP Rotary will help provide food and much-needed supplies for the cold weather shelter during this unanticipated extension. |
