ROTARY CARES keeps on truckin'!
The glamorous part of Rotary:  Moving cereal pallets to Shelter KC for distribution to homeless shelters, by Mike Meyer.

As an aside, Mike mentioned that they delivered some products to Clarksville a few months ago, to an agency that works with soldiers, veterans and homeless veterans.  Weeks go by.  Word of the free products gets whispered through channels we aren't even aware of. Somewhere, other people get excited to find the perfect home for the donations that have been entrusted to them.  Then, a text shows up on Mike's phone:

"Hey I just wanted to let you know that because of your giving and what you gave us on that truck load we served over 250 military families today."

And Brad Vaughn happy in his work, moving pallets of personal care products to Avenues of Life for distribution to other agencies.  More about Avenues of Life coming soon, they're really interesting.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
Lord Halifax

It's easier to write a check than it is to dig a hole!

So we'll save your back side by simply ASKING FOR A CHECK ($50 or $75 sounds perfect) to help the club meets its goal to step up to the Rotary district-wide effort to create a tree grove on the grounds of the  new Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe.  HOW?
Snail mail:  Mail a check to our OP Rotary Foundation earmarked JoCo Tree Grove, address is OP Rotary Foundation, PO Box 7558, OP Ks 66207
Online: Go to our website (www.portal.clubrunner.ca/4405) and click on Member Area at the top.  See the three hash marks on top right?  Click that for Members, and drop down to "Pay Your Bill Online."  Fill in the blanks, designate Courthouse Tree Grove.

The best time to plant a tree is yesterday -- so hurry and do it soon!
