SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
JULY AND AUGUST ARE PRETTY QUIET ON THE SERVICE FRONT....

BUT HERE'S A REMINDER WHY "POLIO PLUS" STILL NEEDS YOU TO BE COMMITTED:

There has been a significant increase in the number of identified WPV Cases in Pakistan over the last few weeks ( and especially leading into what has typically been the "High" season of transmission). In the last 2 weeks there have been 9 new cases confirmed bringing the total so far this year in Pakistan to 41 compared to only 12 for the entire 2018. While this increase is very disturbing, we know that the immunization efforts work -  if only the vaccine can be delivered. Rotary's partners in the eradication efforts are mounting a new National Emergency Action Plan for the limited areas in Pakistan and Afghanistan where these cases are happening.  We know that we must continue these efforts until the last case is detected and every child is protected for the future both in these endemic countries and around the world.

ALSO, MEET A FEW ROTARIANS YOU'VE NEVER MET, AND DO A GOOD DEED!
This September RI Director Larry Dimmitt and his wife Lois will proudly host the Zone Institute for Zones 25b & 29 at the Overland Park Sheraton. Members from all over the Midwest and even Canada will join their fellow Rotarians here in the Sunflower state!

With that in mind, we are looking for volunteers to be at KCI airport  when our visitors arrive on September 24, 25, 26, & 27 to welcome them to Kansas City. Volunteers will also direct guests to the shuttle buses that will be running to the hotel throughout the day. We want to make a great first impression of our District! If you are interested, please follow the instructions below.
