DICK BOND MEMORIAL FUND CREATED
The Overland Park Rotary Foundation will be collecting memorial funds in honor of our fellow Rotarian and friend, Senator Dick Bond who passed away Thursday July 23, 2020. The Foundation will be in discussion with his wife Sue Bond for final decisions regarding the use of memorial funds but since he was an advocate for education, we are strongly considering a Rotary student scholarship in his memory.

The Club and Foundation would welcome your support.   You can make a memorial donation by credit card at:
https://portal.clubrunner.ca/4405/Page/online-bill-pay or you can mail a check to the Overland Park Rotary Foundation to:
PO Box 7558, Overland Park, KS 66207.

Please make sure to denote this memorial on your online form or your check memo indicating Dick Bond Memorial.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Pam (Holmes) Bowman at pam@adminpam.com or Tim Steele at tim@hearingyourbest.com.   Thank you.
THE POWER OF ROTARY - MULTIPLIED
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WRITE A SMALL CHECK

The final results of our District’s amazing support for Polio Plus this past year that wrapped up with our 6X Matching Challenge of DDF Funds are now in. Our 44 Clubs really came through with additional donations to meet DG Jason’s $100K Annual Goal with a GRAND TOTAL of $102,819.00. When we added the District’s $29,015.00 DDF and received the Gates Foundation’s $2:$1 Match, District 5710 Rotarians can be proud that our donations yielded just under $400,000.00 For POLIO PLUS! On the way to achieving this goal, a special “Thank You” goes to the 18 Clubs that have earned the 2019-2020 “POLIO DROP” banner patch with donations of at least $1,200.00.
And now a New Challenge ~ On behalf of DG Faron Barr, we are looking forward to another successful year of support for Polio Plus, as he has set our District’s Polio Plus 2020-2021 Goal of $100,000.00!  We did it before and we can do it again.  It starts with that small check!

DISTRICT 5710 LAUNCHING SATELLITES
This is Membership and Club Development month.  And is it difficult to grow Rotary during a pandemic?

Well, the District announces that we have the potential to grow Rotary in District 5710 by not just one, but by several clubs. We are in the early stages of creating the first E-club in our district which would also be our first cause club. We have several non-Rotarians eager to join this club that would be focused on ending human trafficking. There is the potential to have three new satellite clubs created in our district with one of them focused on environmental issues. To learn more about what satellite clubs are and how they may be a way for more people to engage Rotary, please speak with our membership chair Jenalea Randall or click here. The District also is presenting the charter to our district’s first community-based Rotaract club (David Austin, is this you?! this month. It is exciting to see all the opportunities for more people to join our wonderful organization and help us create meaningful, lasting, positive change throughout our communities and world.
