SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
MORE WAYS to get involved, be of service!

KC Rotary Reads! is a product of the Greater Kansas City Rotary Committee. Our club has received approval from both SMSD and BVSD at the district level, and we hope you will join the fun the week of September 23-27.  We are hoping this may be a first step to a more in-depth relationship on an ongoing basis. We are working to coordinate dates and times that work best for fourth grade teachers.  Volunteers will be reading a book that incorporates the Four-Way Test into a project that a group of kids are trying to tackle.

We have also asked for any applicable security procedures for entering the school and classroom. Presumably most of our members will require photo identification at a minimum. We plan to have our readers arrive at the school 15 minutes before their scheduled time. We understand some schools may require a background check beforehand.
There will be a $20 fee per volunteer to cover the cost of our T-shirts and the book to be used.  Details on sign-up procedure and fee collection will be posted in this space as they are nailed down, in the meantime raise your hand by contacting our commitee chair Lee Cross at  913.710.9761 or email: lcross@gmolaw.com.

Aug. 19, Foundation Board Meeting 1-2 PM after lunch meeting

August 25, Volunteer at the GoGirlRun and help raise funds for PolioPlus! We will receive $25 per volunteer, and if we have 20 or more, it jumps to $30 per volunteer! Sign up at http://gogirlrun.com/volunteer/ and be sure to select “Rotary Clubs of Eastern Kansas” under the “Are you volunteering on behalf of a specific group?” question. There are a variety of opportunities available, but the RACE DAY – Water Stations option is preferred. We can easily raise $600 or more while having fun and supporting a great event!

Sept. 2, Rotary Runners, join the fun at the Leawood Labor Day 5K! This is Leawood Rotary’s fundraiser, and you can join the team “Rotary Runners”. District Governor Jason is running as well!  Sign up at:   https://runsignup.com/Race/KS/Leawood/LeawoodLaborDay5K
