FOOD DRIVE FOR JOCO PANTRIES!
OUR LOCAL PANTRIES ARE LOW ON FOOD!!!

Johnson County has three food pantries, and all of them are asking for immediate donations. They need nonperishable food, personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies.  Think peanut butter, jelly, pasta, canned tuna, dish detergent, soap, toothpaste...
Carol Watts will be waiting for you to drop off any contributions by the entry of The OP Doubletree Hotel next week on TUESDAY, JUNE 9TH from 9 - 11 AM.
(Can't go shopping?  Drop off cash or a check in an envelope!)
Thank you!

HERE'S WHAT OUR FOUNDATION'S BEEN UP TO
Just recently, the OPR Foundation has done the following!

1.  The OP Rotary Foundation will make a $500 contribution to the Officer Mike Moscher Scholarship fund in honor of Officer Moscher's memory and his service to our community.  If any club member would like to make a personal contribution to this fund, you can do this at https://oppof.org/

2. The OP Rotary Foundation will also make a $1500 contribution to the Rotary Foundation for Polio Plus in an effort to take advantage of the Polio Plus 6x challenge through District 5710. You can make an individual contribution as well to this important Rotary focus to eradicate polio.
You can donate directly at https://my.rotary.org/en/donate and choose Polio Fund. Our Club ID is 1630 if needed. If you would prefer to make a donation directly to the Overland Park Rotary Foundation for Polio Plus please denote this in the memo portion of your check and the Foundation will forward your donation accordingly. You can also make an OP Rotary Foundation donation through Club Runner using the member portal for online bill pay. Make sure to indicate Polio Plus in the memo portion if you choose this option.
AN IRON LUNG STORY - as a reminder
You may never have seen an iron lung, or know anyone who had polio as a kid.  You may not personally even remember when polio was a threat. You may question why Rotary International still makes this effort to eradicate the disease in other parts of the world when children here don't get polio any more.

There are only two people in America who still live with an iron lung.  Here is the story of one of them.  Take a few minutes to read this and then, if you can, send in your PolioPlus contribution.

Thanks to Jeff Ellis for forwarding.

MORE SNACKS TO THE HOSPITALS
So a nursing student at St. Luke's says:  WHAT ROTARY CLUB ARE YOU IN?
And Carol Watts told her. And she said, OH, THERE WAS THIS SIGN IN THE BREAK ROOM THAT SAID ...

... that, on our behalf, Mike Meyer and Brad Vaughn once again were delivering pallets of goodies to some area hospitals. THANK YOU.

FAMILY OF ROTARY

We're a family.  So, this is like "call your mother."

Let us know if you get sick.  Let us know if you are in a pinch.  Let us know if a loved one passes away.

Let us know.  We have certain powers.

Need someone to deliver some food or personal care items to you? We have shop and drop volunteers.  If you'd rather not get out and would like a friend to run a shopping errand for you, make your wishes known:  Carol 816-806-0242.
