SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
A DISTRICT CALL FOR HELP:

Director Larry Dimmitt and his wife Lois will be hosting the Zone Institute in Kansas City September 25-29. This is a fabulous opportunity to show off our district - and we would love for YOU to be a part of this event!

There are several ways to get involved:

1. Attend the All Club Luncheon at the Overland Park Sheraton - this event will be Friday, September 27 - Noon to 1:45 pm. The luncheon speaker will be Past RI Director Larry Lunsford. Larry is from our neighboring district 6040 in Missouri, and he is currently the Aide to the RI president Mark Maloney. Cost of the luncheon is $45. All Rotarians are welcome! You can register HERE.

2. Volunteer Opportunities:

We need volunteers to be at KCI airport 9/24-9/27 to welcome our guests to Kansas City. Click here to find the times needed and sign up.

We are also looking for volunteers to be part of a Hospitality Committee during the Institute. Duties will include: Greeting people as they come into the hotel and pointing out where the hotel registration is and the registration for Zone, collecting tickets at meals and directing people to breakout rooms and where the plenary session is held. If you are interested, please contact Chuck Udell.

KC Rotary Reads! is a product of the Greater Kansas City Rotary Committee. Our club has received approval from both SMSD and BVSD at the district level, and we hope you will join the fun the week of September 23-27.
We are hoping this may be a first step to a more in-depth relationship on an ongoing basis. We are working to coordinate dates and times that work best for fourth grade teachers.  Volunteers will be reading a book that incorporates the Four-Way Test into a project that a group of kids are trying to tackle.
We have also asked for any applicable security procedures for entering the school and classroom. Presumably most of our members will require photo identification at a minimum. We plan to have our readers arrive at the school 15 minutes before their scheduled time. We understand some schools may require a background check beforehand.  There will be a $20 fee per volunteer to cover the cost of our T-shirts and the book to be used.  Details on sign-up procedure and fee collection will be posted in this space as they are nailed down, in the meantime raise your hand by contacting our commitee chair Lee Cross at  913.710.9761 or email: lcross@gmolaw.com

FAMILY OF ROTARY
"Every now and then, I need someone to hold my hand
and tell me everything will be alright."
Sometimes life as we know it throws up a challenge, a downturn, or a new leaf.
We have cards, balloons, and flowers. We honor requests for food trains, phone calls, and even simple requests to be left alone.
Let us know who needs a hug, a roasted chicken, or a good book left on the doorstep. Notify carolwattsks@gmail.com.
