REVISED YLI PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
Both the OP Rotary Board and the OP Rotary Foundation unanimously approved a revised and updated YLI for 2017. It will be called the “Overland Park Rotary Youth Leadership Fellows” program. It was presented to Rotary members during our lunch meeting on December 12th.
The new program incorporates the best of YLI with the Rotary District’s Youth Leadership Academy, also known as “RYLA.”
The program begins in Lawrence at the University of Kansas and ends at JCCC in Overland Park. The new program will work closely with school districts to identify the best candidates to apply. There will be incentives and a scholarship component to the program. As we have done in the past, students will attend a Rotary meeting at the end of the program. During this first year, we will begin with 10 students with plans to expand in the following years. Detailed information will be available in early 2017 as we roll out the program.
