WE HAVE A NEW SPEAKER TOMORROW--GOVERNOR BROWNBACK WILL NOT SPEAK
Due to reasons passing and understanding, we have a change in speaker for the meeting on Monday, August 1. We will now hear from Patrick McBride of Drone of Demand - "Drones: Sending your Business Skyward."

This should be a very interesting topic and there will even be a hands on portion of the presentation! Please bring guests to experience Rotary.

Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) Leadership Training Seminar
As was done in 2015,  the first session of the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) will be held as one of the tracks at this year’s Foundation, Membership, and Leadership Training Seminar on Saturday, August 13th.

Many of you are RLI graduates and y'all know that RLI is a grassroots leadership and development program whose goal is to strengthen Rotary clubs through quality leadership education. The RLI program is great training for “new” as well as “seasoned” Rotarians and can help with growing our clubs both with membership and meaningful service projects.

If possible, I would like to be able to visit your club between July 18th and August 11th and speak for just 5 minutes (if I go over, you can give me the hook) with your members about this program and when & where the three sessions will happen.

And - a thought to consider as you begin your presidency and that is to select and sponsor one of your members to attend RLI.  All kit takes to sponsor is to pay all of or part of the $90 tuition for them to attend.  What a great day to show your support.

Thanks in advance for your help with RLI - I appreciate it.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Chuck Udell

Arts & Music = Economic Stimulus, and They Need You in Overland Park
Are you a user of the arts?

Do you notice the sculptures that dot our city’s parks and spaces?
Do you attend the downtown Fall Festival?
Do you take your children or grandchildren to the Deanna Rose Farmstead?

                                                                                or

Are you a participant in the arts?

Do you perform with the Overland Park Band?
Do you submit art pieces or craft creations to any of the several arts exhibitions held throughout the year?

If you are a member of either of these two groups [or even if you are not], are you amenable to being persuaded to enlarge the level of your involvement?

Overland Park’s Friends of Art is the city’s 501(c) (3) that supports the development of  the city’s arts and cultural amenities that most of us use and enjoy, that contribute so positively the city’s national reputation and to the quality of life we enjoy and benefit from.

The Friends of Art is now seeking individuals to serve on their advisory boards. Vicki Lilly, the executive director of Overland Park’s Arts and Recreation Foundation, would welcome the opportunity of talking with you about how you could become involved. She can be reached at 913 – 226 – 2981.
