As we close out the 2025-26 Rotary year President, Barry Sullivan will look back and recognize the impact that the club has made. The gavel will be passed to incoming President, Bill Flohrs, and the 2026-27 Board of Directors.
District 5710 representing Northeast Kansas and District 6040 representing the rest of Kansas have come together to create multiple fun opportunities for both local and visiting Rotarians to attend meetings, participate in service projects, and connect with fellow Rotarians who share your commitment to Service Above Self. Jewish Community Center Maccabi Games Needs Volunteers
August 2-7, 2026
The JCC Maccabi Games® are coming to The J in Kansas City! From Aug. 2-7, 2026, we are proud to host 1,000 Jewish teen athletes from around the globe at the world’s largest Jewish youth sporting event. The event will mobilize members of our community, including 400 host families, thousands of volunteers, and 150 local athletes. The JCC Maccabi Games® is an Olympic-style sporting competition held each summer to contribute to the maintenance and enrichment of Jewish identity in youth and the development of leadership through healthy competition and sportsmanship.
Rotary Club member, Tom Cohen, is part of this event and would love to have the support of fellow Rotarians. Please contact Tom via cell at 913-226-1001 or at Thomas.Cohen@cohencap.org. To learn more or to volunteer please go to this link to start the 2-step registration process:https://jcckcmaccabi.org/volunteers/.
Members of Rotary District 5710 will be traveling to India for World Polio Day, Oct 22 – 28. Travel and expense details of the trip are here: https://worldpolioday.agratajmahalrotary.org/
Rotarians are encouraged to join the trip, as are family and friends who are not Rotarians. Volunteer teams of four Rotarians will work with local Rotary partners and health workers to vaccinate children and also distribute small gifts provided by Agra Rotary clubs to the children they serve. So far, there are seven local Rotarians registered plus 2 folks from Canada. There is still room for more folks to join. This is a rare chance to see Rotary’s global mission in action and make a direct, measurable impact.
Due to the generosity of a few Rotarians who support Rotary's campaign to eradicate polio worldwide, we also have some financial assistance available. If you are interested in attending or applying for a scholarship, please contact the District 5710 Polio Plus Chair, Maria Wilson at (785) 224-6745 or Maria4PolioPlus@gmail.com. Scholarship Application Deadline extended to June 30, 2026.
At the beginning of this year, the following goals were set for our giving as a Club to Rotary International:
Giving to the Annual Fund: $11,500
Polio Plus Fund: $1000
In order for our club to reach Star Club status and therefor receive extra grant funds from District 5710, at least $100 per capita needs to be donated to the Rotary International Annual Fund. For this year, that amount would be approximately $11,000.
As a reminder, Every Rotarian Every Year, is the goal - to have every Rotarian donation something to the Rotary Foundation. Our goal is $100 per member. Go to https://my.rotary.org/en/donate to make a donation online or bring a check this week!
