Tip-toeing Back to IN-PERSON Meetings!
Aha!  We recently learned that President Jameia is working on a plan to try to gather safely in person!!
So make notes of these dates and stay tuned for more details, but here's what we know so far.

May In Person Meeting Location for May 10 & 24
Roe Park Outdoor Community Building
 - south end of Roe Park - you'll see it when you pull in. Parking is immediately nearby.
10400 Roe Avenue
Overland Park, KS 66207

Here is the link for the photos of the Roe Park Building for May meeting dates.

Note: Will the Magician Gladhart will try to film the speaker to share with members who are not comfortable attending. If there is no speaker, there will not be a virtual component since the meeting will be outdoors and is difficult to stream outdoors using a hotspot.  (It depends on getting a wifi signal! Also wind, humidity, ambient noise, kids on roller skates, what could go wrong...?!)

Our Club Foundation Makes Us All Look Good
The club foundation does so much work so quietly, you may have missed some of this!

Next week, Mike Meyer might tell us just more regarding all his continued work along with other Rotarians for Operation Rotary Cares in partnership with Feed the Children.  Our foundation's budget to support that ongoing work including the storage facility is approximately $11000 per year.
The other items that have been cooking in the background are as follows:

1) Dick Bond memorial scholarships ($4500) to be finalized in April and announced in May
2) Community Grants ($10000) to be finalized in April and announced in May/June
3) SMSD Tree grant ($5000) - already paid- contribution made in March
4) Joint Rotary Courthouse Tree Grove Project ($5000)- designated and working with club members for 1:1 match up to $5000
5) Polio Plus contribution ($5000) - and leveraged up with every matching fund grant that our crew could find!!

...And foundation president Tim Steele says this has been "in the background."  Some "background", we think!

STAR Club Looking for Stars
We need our club all-stars to come through!

On your April-1st Rotary billing statement, did you notice the request for a donation to the Rotary International Foundation, for (a minimum of) $100?  It's not in your balance due, it is a request, so you would have to add it to your payment and note that it's for RI Foundation.

As you may recall, the Board has committed to achieving Star Club status for the current fiscal year, as did the membership (by acclamation) at the February 15th meeting.  Being a Star Club makes the statement that our Club’s members have all chipped in that $100 apiece to say We Agree with Rotary's mission!  Also, we'd receive an extra $1,000 District contribution towards our District grant.

Please join in and give generously to this worthwhile purpose. Be a star, ok?

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
Lord Halifax

It's easier to write a check than it is to dig a hole!

So we'll save your back side by simply ASKING FOR A CHECK ($50 or $75 sounds perfect) to help the club meets its goal to step up to the Rotary district-wide effort to create a tree grove on the grounds of the  new Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe.  HOW?
Snail mail:  Mail a check to our OP Rotary Foundation earmarked JoCo Tree Grove, address is OP Rotary Foundation, PO Box 7558, OP Ks 66207
Online: Go to our website (www.portal.clubrunner.ca/4405) and click on Member Area at the top.  See the three hash marks on top right?  Click that for Members, and drop down to "Pay Your Bill Online."  Fill in the blanks, designate Courthouse Tree Grove.

The best time to plant a tree is yesterday -- so hurry and do it soon!
