ROTARY’S POLIO ERADICATION GOAL GETS A BOOST & A CHALLENGE!
Rotary and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced on 22 January that their long-term fundraising partnership, which generates up to $150 million annually for polio eradication, will continue for an additional 3 years. By this $2 to $1 match, every Dollar donated by the Members and Clubs of District 5710 equals the cost of providing enough vaccine that will guarantee that one more child will be forever protected from the threat of Polio.
We have five months to go, and want to exceed the minimum recommended per-club contribution. Help meet the Challenge of reaching this important milestone! Write out a check at the front desk, or email club bookkeeper Pam Holmes at pam@adminpam.com and ask her to bill you for a bit extra.
On Monday, March 2, our Club, in collaboration with the Abilene Rotary Club, will be delivering books for distribution to Abilene schools and young visitors to the Eisenhower Museum. A small ceremony will occur early that Monday at the Museum to publicize the donations. Some members of our Club are planning to go to Abilene to support the ceremony. If you would like to join that group and take a tour of the recently renovated Museum following the ceremony, please contact Jeff Ellis who will be looking into group transportation options and helping coordinate travel plans.
