Now that we're starting to meet in-person again, the club directors have been researching options for a "home" for our meetings. They've tilted away from a food buffet (prices have risen, and for now, it doesn't seem prudent) and ruled out a hot, plated lunch (too expensive.) Most hotels or country clubs are unwilling to carve out a banquet room for a simpler lunch (not enough mark-up and they're not equipped) and our many choices of venues that offer self-serve lunch lines (think Panera) offer no meeting rooms. What to do?
For July, August and September we will be meeting Noon - 1 in a meeting room at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., with B.Y.O.Lunch.
Want to be part of the solution here? Please bring us your suggestions!
We haven't had the chance for long time to plunge into a hands-on club project. At last, somebody asked!
OP ROTARY CARES To express our thanks and appreciation to First Responders, the Overland Park Rotary will deliver “treats” to over 700 fire fighters and paramedics at 33 firehouses in Johnson County.
We need 15-16 volunteers for Friday July 23 between 2-4pm and Saturday July 24th between 9-11am. You will drive to the warehouse (directions below), be loaded with cases of “treats” (make and model of vehicle needed to estimate loading capacity) Next volunteers will drive to a Johnson County firehouse where firemen will eagerly unload their treats. Total time 60-90 minutes. Please indicate if you can make more than one delivery each day. Let Brad know if there is a specific firehouse you wish deliver to (provide address and/or location).
Volunteers are also needed to load cars/SUV’s/trucks at warehouse. Cases are small and light. (Perfect opportunity for high school service hours)

THANKS TO ROTARY CARES GUYS Mike Meyer and Brad Vaughn (upstaged here by KCWolf and Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes) and others in the club for transforming pallets of boxes in a cave to hundreds of giggles and grins when local kids lined up for their very own books.
THIS WAS THE FINAL PUSH for 2021’s effort, and already Mike and Brad are figuring out next year’s challenges of location, costs, projects, alliances, and product.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? Oh, stay tuned, we’ll let you know.
