A MESSAGE FROM R.I.'S PRESIDENT
Do you ever read the Rotarian magazine?

Just when you begin to think "Rotary will never be the same again!" the new RI President, Holger Knaack, reads your thoughts, and says,

"It's fascinating how we (are finding) new ways to adapt and stay nimble in this year and beyond.  But I'm also inspired by what hasn't changed and never will in Rotary:  the friendships, the networking, the ethics, and the service.  Indeed, these are the values that make Rotary attractive to all.
As Rotary's founder, Paul Harris, said, we have to be revolutionary from time to time.  Now is such a time."

DICK BOND MEMORIAL FUND CREATED
The Overland Park Rotary Foundation will be collecting memorial funds in honor of our fellow Rotarian and friend, Senator Dick Bond who passed away Thursday July 23, 2020. The Foundation will be in discussion with his wife Sue Bond for final decisions regarding the use of memorial funds but since he was an advocate for education, we are strongly considering a Rotary student scholarship in his memory.

The Club and Foundation would welcome your support.   You can make a memorial donation by credit card at:
https://portal.clubrunner.ca/4405/Page/online-bill-pay or you can mail a check to the Overland Park Rotary Foundation to:
PO Box 7558, Overland Park, KS 66207.

Please make sure to denote this memorial on your online form or your check memo indicating Dick Bond Memorial.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Pam (Holmes) Bowman at pam@adminpam.com or Tim Steele at tim@hearingyourbest.com.   Thank you.

...and here's a non-sequitur:
So you probably know that the food banks are getting hit hard right now.  And you know that Harvester's distributes food to many area pantries.  And from time to time, you may even go in a Hen House grocery store.
Look near the check-out area for the pre-bagged bundles of foodstuffs labelled "$10 WORTH OF GROCERIES FOR HARVESTERS."
Toss it in your cart and pay for it.
Never touch it again, it all gets picked up by good fairies later.
(Serving others doesn't always have to make you work hard.)

POLITICS AND CITIZENSHIP GROUP
Thur, Sept 3, 4:00 - 5:30 via ZOOM
Details To Be Finalized by Greg Musil
For details: gmusil@rousepc.com
Five members of the Club met via Zoom to discuss the upcoming elections, voting motivation, and the state of politics today.  More participants are needed to make the discussion more robust.  The group is committed to civility and respect, avoiding personal or political attacks, and minimizing for-or-against debates on individual candidates or issues.  We practice the Four-Way Test!  One active idea coming from the group was to prepare a short (5-10 minute) electronic survey for each club member to respond to anonymously.  The survey will be focusing on voting considerations, information outlets, and members’ personal ideas of important characteristics of candidates who might win your vote.  The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 3 from 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Watch for the survey!
