SANTA BRINGS OVER 57,000 BOOKS JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS AND HANUKKAH!

We had many hero-members who braved a horrendously cold warehouse to help get our second delivery of children's books dispatched to their respective homes.  2398 cases of books needed to be unloaded, sorted, restacked, and reloaded to be delivered to several dozen agencies in the area. Fortunately we had the able leadership of Mike Meyers, Donna Deeds, and Brad Vaughn among others.

HERE'S A FEW OF THE AGENCIES WHO RECEIVED BOOKS: Boys & Girls Club of Greater KC, Salvation Army, Rainbow Center, KVC, Head Start, SafeHome, John County WIC Program, CASA, Catholic Charities, Sunflower House.

HERE'S ONE OF THE MANY THANK YOU NOTES WE RECEIVED:

Dear Trish,
Please extend to the Overland Park Rotary Club our gratitude for their donation of new books. We are serving 273 children in Northeast Kansas City this Christmas season..  Many of our children are newly poor, from homeless families, all economically disadvantage, some new to the area with language barriers, many not knowing where they will be tomorrow .

Christmas is a wonderful time of sharing and each child will receives a few gifts and a beautiful new book of their own..thanks to you all.  We encourage reading and almost every week put out donated used books for them to chose...what a joy to have a new one!

You have certainly demonstrated "service above self" and many children will benefit from your outreach
With warmest wishes and many thanks
Marsha Elbasani, Children Coordinator
Micah Ministries (we are all volunteer organization)

FAMILY OF ROTARY
We're Family.  We're Friends.

Long time member David Miller, a loyal and supportive Rotarian, will be sorely missed.  A member for 45 years, David was a Paul Harris Fellow and a major supporter of the Star Spangled Spectacular as well as numerous other projects.  And like a good CPA, David kept tabs on things.

Doug Young,  bounce on back to us please, after you recover from that vein work on your leg.

Oh no, Andy Heath, an emergency hospital trip for pain in the back closely followed by a root canal?!  And we thought you knew how to have fun  ... !!
