Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) is designed for high school students who will be sophomores, juniors and seniors and are ready to explore and develop their leadership potential. For the past five years, twenty-eight Rotary clubs sponsored a diverse group of about seventy students from across Eastern Kansas.

Leadership development is a life-long process. RYLA will benefit those beginning their leadership journey and those already serving their schools and communities in leadership roles. We focus on leadership, community service, and civic engagement.

Who can apply?

Any high school student eager to learn to become an effective leader while having fun in the summer is eligible to apply.

Applicants for RYLA must:

  • Currently be a high school student at a school in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better

  • Commit to attend all days of the RYLA Leadership Training Sessions.
