How To Involve Some Local Students and Help The Climate At The Same Time!
The Foundation Board has approved the $5,000 grant request toward the SMSD Tree Project. At the recent Foundation meeting, Oscar Kariuki, Chase Horner, and Harley Witbrod of the SMSD Tree Committee joined our meeting and shared details about their project, and how our Club members can support it. (All three are members of the SMS Interact Club and SMS National Honor Society.) The goal is to plant 200 trees throughout Johnson County the weekend of April 24th which is Global Youth Service Day. The trees will be planted in local parks and schools in the area by members of the SMS & SME National Honor Societies.
Want to help? A $75 donation to SMSD for Trees allows you to become a Community Tree Sponsor, have a preference where your tree is planted and receive a certificate of recognition of your contribution.
