A Coronavirus Response from the Foundation!
Thanks to the Overland Park Rotary Foundation, you have a special opportunity to help out our neighbors in need during this COVID-19 crisis!

The Foundation is challenging Club members to match their $5,000 donation to the "Project 1020 Cold Weather Shelter" with contributions in any amount.  Club members are encouraged to make a donation to the Foundation by April 13, and designate it for "Project 1020".  We will send the collected funds to Project 1020 from the Club. Please make your donation online at
https://portal.clubrunner.ca/4405/Page/online-bill-pay

Project 1020 is an organization that has been operating a cold weather shelter in Lenexa with 30 beds for people who are homeless. The shelter is full every night. The shelter was scheduled to cease operations on April 1, but the Lenexa City Council last week authorized the shelter to continue operating through the end of the COVID-19 emergency order.

Support from the OP Rotary will help provide food and much-needed supplies for the cold weather shelter during this unanticipated extension.
NOBODY is as busy as Mike Meyer!
!

This is what "we've" accomplished this week ....

(we mean Mike)

Today we received another trailer load of emergency supplies from Feed The Children.
It included 10 pallets of bottled water, 2 pallets of diapers, 1 pallet of diaper rash cream, 10 pallets of kids snacks ( M&M’s, Skittles, Doritos, etc) . We will arrange time to work with Johnson County Health to support their distribution plus Operation 1020 next week.
I also picked up another load of soap and personal items this morning from Church and Dwight for Johnson County Christmas Bureau from their plant in Harrisonville. A total of 18,000 lbs. This will be partially distributed by Back to The Basics. Thanks to Larry Bigus and all his support to continue to support local agencies in need.
Ruth Bigus recorded me in an interview for the radio program KC Cares this afternoon which will run starting Monday.
Tim Steele and our Foundation Board has continued to support our operations in obtaining and distributing needed supplies. We ARE making a difference!

BTW, we also have over 8,000 new children’s books in our warehouse with 10 new Disney Titles for this years program.
